Q:
What is your policy on appointment cancellations?
A: Our Terms of Business can be read in it's entirety here, and should be read before making a grooming appointment.
Q:
What type of pets do you groom?
A: We groom all breeds of dogs and in some cases cats are
more than welcome. We have trained groomers who specialise in
breed-specific cuts. Please call the Salon directly for rates and to
schedule an appointment.
Q:
How much does it cost to groom my dog?
A: Grooming rates vary depending on the breed of your dog and
the type of services you require. Please call the Salon on 01253
769749, our professional grooming staff will be able to advise you
further.
Q:
How do I choose a good style for my pet?
A: We will style your pet exactly how you want him/her
styled, if you are not sure of the style you want our professional
groomers will help you find a style that suits. The groomer can
explain the requirements for achieving that style in terms of
maintenance and cost.
The style you choose for your pet should take into consideration how
much time and money you want to spend maintaining the style.
Elaborate, show-dog styles require daily maintenance. However, that
does not mean that a very short clip is the only option. In fact, an
attractive style with some length is possible, as long as you are
willing to schedule regular grooming sessions for your pet.
Q:
I have a flat-coated outdoor dog. Does he need dog grooming?
A: Smooth and flat-coated breeds have minimal grooming needs,
but every dog does need attention. The coat should be brushed once a
week to remove the shedding hair and to stimulate a good healthy
protective cover. While shampooing is probably not needed as
frequently as for indoor pets, you will still want your dog nice to
be near. Also, unless your pet spends a lot of time on hard
pavement, his nails will also need to be trimmed about once a month.
Q:
How often should my dog have a haircut?
A: The answer depends upon both the breed of dog that you
have and the amount of time that you can commit to home maintenance
of your pet's coat. Unless you are willing to spend time every day
brushing and combing your pet, your dog needs a haircut at least
every six to nine weeks, depending upon the breed.
Fluffy coats, like Poodles and Bichons, need attention every four to
six weeks as do dogs with long straight coats like the Shih Tzu or
Afghan and soft-coated terriers like Kerry Blues and Wheatens.
Consulting with a professional groomer is a good way to understand
your individual pet's needs
Q:
How often is it safe to shampoo my pet?
A: With the right products, you can safely shampoo your pet
every week. Modern shampoos and conditioners have put to rest old
myths about too frequent bathing. In fact, the beautiful coats of
show dogs are shampooed at least that often. Regular shampooing will
also help control dander and shedding.
How often your pet needs a shampoo is a different question. Most
pets require a thorough bathing at least every 4-6 weeks to stay
clean and odor free. Depending upon your family's lifestyle and
whether your pet spends time outdoors, you may want to shampoo more
frequently.
Q:
Do you sedate pets before you bathe or groom them?
A: Our professional stylists will not sedate a pet in order
to groom it. Our stylists and groom techs are well trained to handle
nervous pets, and treat every pet with tender loving care. If a pet
is too agitated to be safely bathed or groomed, our staff will not
attempt to force the service on the pet.
Q:
Do you have heated drying cages in your grooming facilities?
A: No. In fact, we have a policy against the use of these
devices in our
grooming salons.
Our Grooming Associates are trained to hand-dry pets after they have
been bathed. The process involves brushing out the coat to remove
shedding hair, while blowing it dry with equipment similar to,
although larger than, the hair dryer you might use at home.
The health, safety and comfort of all of the pets in our care is of
primary
importance to us. We have established our grooming policies,
selected the equipment we use, and trained our staff with those
requirements in mind.
Q:
Can we contact you to ask questions, raise concerns or get advice
about our pets?
A: Yes of course we would be pleased to hear from you, if we
can help we will. If we can't help you we will forward you to an
appropriate party that can. Please send your questions via our
contact form.
